It always troubles me when I read the incredibly narrow-minded comments on different Thai blogs and forums discussing Thai women. Some people either have no clue at all or they’ve had one experience with a Thai girl and then decided to apply it to every other lady out there. I understand a lot of it because I was subjected to the same media coverage as everyone else. It can be difficult to get all of those images and news stories out of your brain.

Knowing that, I’m really begging you guys to forget all the stuff you’ve heard before and to try and open up your mind to some different perspectives here. I promise to present them in the fairest way I possibly can. Most of the material I give you will be straight from the Thai ladies I have interviewed and not corroded by some guys damaged ego.

Here are 2 examples of stereotypical junk I have seen just within the past couple weeks. One was on some television talk show and the comedian was joking around about what he really does in his private life. He said he usually stays home, does some drugs and hangs out with his Thai hookers. He could have said just hookers I suppose or maybe hookers from another country, but they had to be Thai hookers.

The other example I saw was a question posted on an information website asking about where to find “good” Thai girls. Most replies said they don’t exist, but there was another one that really made me laugh/cry. The guy said you have to go to places like Korat and Udon and meet the girls before they move to Bangkok and start a life of prostitution. The really sad thing was that nobody protested this. Are you guys really that clueless?

I’m guessing many of you are and that just makes me more determined to help you set things straight. I think the first thing I need to make clear to you guys is that…wait for it…. All Thai Women are NOT the Same! Shocking, I know. Let me try to explain this concept to you in easier to understand terms.

Think about your own country. Are people different within your country depending on where they live? Are there physical differences? Any different languages (not just accents) spoken? How about different value systems, character traits and temperaments? I’m guessing you might have some of these where you live. In Thailand, all of these differences exist and in several different areas too.

Most of what you read about Thai girls is mostly about girls from the Isaan (Northeast Thailand) area. There are good reasons for that since it’s the most populated area (Central Thailand including Bangkok - 33.7%, Northeastern - 34.2%, Northern - 18.8% and Southern - 13.3%) and produces the vast majority of the girls working in the bar scene. And keep in mind that those numbers have a lot of Isaan people that live in Bangkok included in the Central percentage.

So how are women from these 4 main areas different? That will have to wait for the next article. Until then, I kindly ask that you open some new space in your mind and get ready to fill it with some fresh ideas.
